Attractions
The main attractions of the farm, Orange Springs, are the fresh spring water, the beautiful mountains surrounding the farm and the absolute stillness with only the sound of birds.
The playful calves, of the Brings stud, and jumping lambs, of the Dormer stud, amuses guests at sundown as the herds settle in for the night, safely kraaled against the calls of the jackals in the dark.
Visitors get carried away by the beauty of the veld with all the different plant, bushes and small succulents. Also of interest are the magnificent sandstone formations on the mountain.
The unique rock paintings tell stories of the daily life of the San and Bushmen living in the valley centuries ago. There are pictures of a lion attacking one of the little men and of the great eland hunts. Of interest are the trans dances performed by the Koi San with drawings of fish over the figures.
No hunting is allowed on the farm with the result of many small antelopes and rib buck finding a safe hiding place on the farm. Baboons are also observed in safety on the mountain.
Orange Springs is a photographer’s dream with the array of colors at dawn and dusk. Stargazers enjoys the beauty of the milky way at night.
