Hermanus is the premier seaside resort in the Western Cape, popular with both South Africans and overseas visitors alike. Listed in the book “1000 Places to See Before You Die”, Hermanus is famous for its champagne air, 13-kilometer long cliff walk along the ocean front, great beaches, great restaurants and the world’s best land base whale watching. The nearby Old Harbour is the hub of the town. The area is filled with excellent restaurants, great art galleries, antique shops and all the necessities of life shops as well. Outdoor activities include paragliding, hiking, surfing, walking, sports, golf, deep-sea fishing, shark cage diving. For the hiker there is the Fernkloof Nature Reserve with its spectacular views over the Hermanus Bay and varied fauna and flora. The nearby Hemel-en-Aarde Valley has beautiful wine farms with award-winning wines.
