Owned and managed by the husband & wife team who own Melville’s renowned Lucky Bean, the restaurant formerly known as Soulsa, exceptional hospitality and accommodation is assured. Hospitality is not just our business, it’s what we love.
Set on a large, olde world Melville property with a beautiful garden and pool, lucky Bean Guesthouse has a gentle sense of peace and harmony. You will stay in a room that is spacious, light and stylish with 5 star graded beds, fine cotton bedding and luxurious bath towels. All of our rooms are no smoking rooms and have their own private entrances, most with patio space and garden views. A delicious breakfast, free WiFi internet connectivity, DSTV (hotel bouquet), room safes, tea and coffee facilities, a desk, safe parking, on-site management and great attention to the details surrounding your stay with us. On many of our beautiful summer mornings you will be able to enjoy breakfast at the pool.

Centrally located in Melville, Lucky Bean is close to the Johannesburg CBD, Soweto, both Johannesburg University campuses, the SABC and the shopping centres of Rosebank and Sandton. The guest house is 400m away from 7th Street, a buzzing mix of restaurants, coffee shops, bars, art galleries and book stores. Melville is one of Johannesburg’s oldest and quaintest suburbs, with leafy streets and a village feel. Very mixed and comfortable, it is a favourite destination for tourists and business people.
Lucky Bean restaurant has become a favourite with tourists and business travellers over the past five years. We changed our name due to a four year legal dispute with Chicken Licken. We have featured in numerous airline publications as well as in Lonely Planet.
We are known for our warm and excellent service, our great food, the style and authenticity of the restaurant. All elements that will be carried on to the guest house.

Directions
From the M1 (De Villiers Graaf Motorway): Take the M17 off ramp onto Empire Road (M17) till you reach a t-junction with Annet Road (M18). Turn right into this road which will change into Kingsway. Right after the Johannesburg Country Club, turn right into Lothbury Road, which in turn will change into 7th Street. Turn right into 1st Ave and drive down about 400m. We are on the left hand side; the large property with the very high hedge.
