Description
In 1980 the Rattray family bought “Fairview”, a 68 acre headland at The Crags, between Plettenberg Bay and Nature’s Valley, on the south Cape coastline. Here Peter and Gillian built the most elegant home for their retirement and set about making a garden of some renown and it was here that Gillian wrote two of her books, “A Cape Country Chronicle” and “In a Country Garden”.
David and Nicky Rattray have recently taken over this property. From November 2005 Fairview will be available on a bed and breakfast or self catering basis.
The house has 3 bedrooms. Downstairs is the master bedroom, with en suite bath and shower, opening onto a private veranda. The family suite, consisting of 2 bedrooms with a shared bathroom (shower), is upstairs. Please note that the stairs are steep and not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties! A fully equipped kitchen forms part of an open plan sitting room with fireplace, and a deep covered veranda leading off the formal sitting room has a spectacular view.
All linen, beach towels and pool towels provided.

Attractions
Fairview was named for its extraordinary outlook over the Keurbooms indigenous forest into several mountain ranges. It has a pool with a view, and is a 10 minute drive from whale watching at Keurbooms beach, 10 minutes from Plettenberg Bay with its gorgeous Robberg Peninsular and spectacular golf courses, and 15 minutes from Natures Valley with its beautiful beach and forest walks. Kurland and Bitou Polo fields are also close by. It is an ideal springboard for all the attractions of this famous coastline, but far enough away from the bustle. It is easy to find (the property adjoins the N2). It is spacious, extremely comfortable, affordable and has a lovely swimming pool in the fynbos.

From Plettenberg Bay continue towards The Crags. Drive for 10kms and after the Royston Farm sign, look for the Fairview sign on your left.
