Overview

The Baviaanskloof Lodge offers spacious en-suite rooms, lounge, dining room and
outdoor living area, is situated in unspoiled surroundings at the entrance to Loeriekloof
in Cambria, Baviaanskloof. The area hosts a variety of animal and bird species which
include the magnificent Knysna Loerie.

Accommodation consists of spacious en suite rooms, dining room, lounge as well as outdoor living area.
The major attraction is the Baviaanskloof Nature Reserve and Wilderness Area
comprising of approximately 300 000 ha. of unspoiled natural beauty which offers a
unique and memorable wilderness experience.

Other attractions in the Cambria area is the magnificent specimen of Outoniqua
Yellowwood whose age is dated to be in excess of 800 years. An ancient cycad believed
to be more than 3 000 years can be found at the top of the towering viewpoint offering
a panoramic view over the Cambria valley dominated by the majestic 1561 m. high Mac
Mountain in the North-East.

The Cambria valley, boxed in by the magnificent Baviaans and Kouga mountain ranges,forms the gateway to the Baviaanskloof Nature Reserve and Wilderness Area. The
name Cambria, apparently Welsh for the country of Wales, was bestowed on the area
by an earlier visitor who was struck by its resemblance to his homeland. The area with
its pristine natural forests, fynbos and valley bushveld, offers excellent eco-recreational opportunities.

The Cambria area in the Baviaanskloof offers excellent opportunities for outdoor
recreation activities. Some of the most popular include, Mountain Hiking, Mountain
Biking, Bird Watching, Game Viewing, Nature Walks and 4x4 Trails.

Directions
Directions: Port Elizabeth to Cambria
• Take the N2 from PE towards Humansdorp
• Just after crossing the van Stadens River bridge, the 2-way highway becomes a
• single lane road, 1 km further on, turn to the left off the N2 at the signboards
• Baviaanskloof & Hankey.
• At the top of the bridge at the stop sign, turn to the right & cross the N2, drive past
• Loerie, straight through Hankey & Patensie.
• 25 km past Patensie, the tar road becomes a gravel road. Our sign board is 20 km from here, on the right-hand side. The entrance looks terrible, a truck demolished the gate. You can't miss it.
• Turn to the right, cross a stream & drive straight on at the big tree (don't turn!).
• At the store room 50 meters further on, turn left, pass a house on the right-hand side, then left round a bend & up to the Lodge (800 meters from the main road).

Directions: Humansdorp to Cambria
• Turn left, off the N2 towards Hankey at the Humansdorp turnoff.
• In Hankey turn left at the stop street opposite Spar.
• Drive straight through Patensie towards Baviaanskloof. Please fill up your vehicle, it is your last chance to fill up!
• 25 km past Patensie, the tar road becomes a gravel road. Our sign board is 20 km from here, on the right-hand side.
• Turn to the right, cross a stream & drive straight on at the big Yellowwood tree (don't turn!).
• At the store room 50 meters further on, at the signboard "Guest House" keep left at the fork in the road.
• In front of the house on the right-hand side, drive left round bend up to the Lodge (800 meters from the main road).
